Moral Science Club

 A little research helped us find this gem of a church just 5 minutes from where we are staying in Ithaca. Pastor Scott Hathorn gives a powerful lesson showing the interconnectedness between the Old and New Testaments. We even attended a Bible study he led a few days later on Numbers.  As a Christian thinking daily about how we can postpone the End Times foretold in Revelation and other books of the Bible, I began to wonder to what extent our position is to Peter's the night of our Lord's betrayal. My reasoning for fighting One World Government is fair; if Satan's plan is postponed, more people will be able to come to faith in Christ. Of course, it will eventually happen just as the Holy Spirit dictated through Isaiah, Daniel, John the Apostle, etc. But we shouldn't go down without a fight, right? Peter's dilemma is quickly revealed and resolved. He replies to Jesus' reaffirmation of the prophecy of his sacrifice for our sins with a flat out denial - Peter won't let it happen. He had just gotten a blessing from Jesus after correctly answering the ultimate question for everyone; "Who do you say I am?"  In last night's BSF class, we became focused on what it means that God transcends time and space. I pointed out that the Bible is the only text where God is portrayed in such a way that we could never have imagined it; He existed before time, during time, and outside of time. This God, Jehovah, had to have revealed Himself in a way that a 3-dimensional being like man could make sense of Him.  Waking up this morning, I was drawn to Romans 8:28, the popular verse that reads, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (NIV). I thought, if God is outside of time then He knows who is going to love Him, and it made me think of the work He did long before I loved Him. We like to say that Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, but often we do not cede our reasoning to him. THE MESSIANIC FINGERPRINTS OF JESSUS CHRIST PART ONE   The deeper one digs in the Old Testament the  more clear  the revelation of the coming Messiah Jesus becomes. The Bronze Snake that The Lord asks Moses to craft is one of those clear Messianic illustrations that Jesus Himself  referrs  to in John 3:14-15. But there's another tricky aspect of the bronze snake; the Second Commandment forbids the carving of any graven image. Is God asking Moses to violate His own Commandment?
