Is Peter's Dilemma Coming Again?
As a Christian thinking daily about how we can postpone the End Times foretold in Revelation and other books of the Bible, I began to wonder to what extent our position is to Peter's the night of our Lord's betrayal. My reasoning for fighting One World Government is fair; if Satan's plan is postponed, more people will be able to come to faith in Christ. Of course, it will eventually happen just as the Holy Spirit dictated through Isaiah, Daniel, John the Apostle, etc. But we shouldn't go down without a fight, right?
Peter's dilemma is quickly revealed and resolved. He replies to Jesus' reaffirmation of the prophecy of his sacrifice for our sins with a flat out denial - Peter won't let it happen. He had just gotten a blessing from Jesus after correctly answering the ultimate question for everyone; "Who do you say I am?" But Peter was thrown into the dog house moments later denying that Jesus would have to die for his sin. "Get behind me, Satan!" was Jesus' scathing response. Peter contradicted God's Word just as Satan had in the Garden; Surely, you WON'T die if you eat the forbidden fruit.
But there's another concern there. Peter not only contradicted God's Word, he wanted to be a hero when the hero of the story is Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus won when he died, paying the debt for sin and declaring, "It is finished!" He didn't say, "Oh, Peter, get me down from here!" It's fair to say, the spirit to be the hero in God's story crushing the opposition can let in the spirit of Satan. A similar lesson occurred when Jesus rebuked James and John for wanting to bring fire down on the people.
We Christians today have to check the spirit in us that wants to slaughter the opposition. We have grand villains today just as Revelation, Daniel, and company described. The entire New World Order/World Economic Forum set of characters are sociopathic monsters from Dr Fauci to Klaus Schwab to the Rothschilds to Bill Gates and many others. Fight back, we must, but in the understanding that Christ is king. We need to examine our hearts and remind ourselves continually that Christ as the finisher, not us. And it's going to be a quick finale. The New World Order doesn't have a chance.
Matthew 16 (NIV)
21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Luke 9 (NKJV)
51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, [j]just as Elijah did?”
55 But He turned and rebuked them, [k]and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 [l]For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.
